WHY WE ARE ADOPTING

We’ve always wanted a bigger family. We used to joke about having 8 kids, but more realistically we wanted at least 4. We knew some people who had adopted before, or who were adopted themselves, and we expected to adopt one day too.

After a few years of struggling to establish ourselves, we finally had careers and a house we could call our own. We were really proud and started trying for kids, only to find out they probably wouldn't be coming any time soon. After two years of trying we accepted that we were suffering from idiopathic (unexplained) infertility.

This was a really difficult blow for us, and we struggled to understand why. Eventually we came to terms with it, and while we're still seeking a diagnosis, we're thankful for the changes it inspired in our lives.

We spent more time looking after our health, our marriage, our godchildren, and the kids already in our family. That year made us realize we could love any child as if they were our own. We decided we were fully on board to adopt, and started the legal process to be approved for an adoption! We completed it in August 2019!

Here we are a year into our adoption journey and we're very hopeful that God will answer our prayers with a child that needs us as much as we need them!

"Adoption is not the call to have the perfect rosy family.

It is the call to give love, mercy, and patience."
